the European festival circuit, this is certainly the grand daddy
of them all with a colourful history spanning as far back as 1967.
Annual attendance's now peak the dizzy heights of hundreds of
thousands, which means if big and bold is what you like - you
got it!
Montreux
has matured. From humble beginnings as a 3 day event in the very
early days, through the mammoth 24 day juggernaut of the late
'70's, to the manageable 16 days of today. For many years it struggled
on the borders of the financial abyss. Happily, the tide has turned,
and the year 2000 event saw all records being broken success wise.
Expect
a fair helping of all forms of music, mixed with a varied and
generous selection of Jazz styles.
