Jazz Festival is quality - and it's free. Is there any more that
needs adding, or should it be left at that? The answer is, if
you live in Atlanta, I guess you take the fact that it's free
for granted.
Those
that don't will probably share my sense of envy. Especially when
looking at the list of talented artists who have played here.
However, everyone is welcome, and you don't have to be a residents
to join in the fun.
If
you love Jazz it helps, but even if you don't, still go along
and take in the atmosphere..
Weekday
events are held mainly at lunchtimes and early evenings at various
locations in and around the City, whereas at the weekend, the
fun is focused around Piedmont Park which hosts three day/night
jamborees.
Atlanta 2001 lined up like this: Sonny
Rollins, Russell Gunn, Terence Blanchard, Chucho Valdes (picured
above right), Brian Blade Fellowship, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Afro
Rican Ensemble, Loston Harris, Poncho Sanchez (pictured left),
Babatunde Lea, Medeski
Martin & Wood,
Arturo Sandoval, Michael Franks, Bob James, Patti
Austin, and Sheila E.
