| "The
world's largest showcase of contemporary Jazz".
So shout the promoters of this two day open air Jazz jamboree.
It's
a bold as brass statement, and for sure, in time we'll be putting
this one to the test. After all, let's face it, there are more
than a handful of other international festivals who could justify
making a similar claim.
However,
there is no doubting that for sheer quality of musicians and artists,
CJF is definitely in the A grade heavyweight division. Just take
a look at a few of the artists that lined up forthe 2001 festival,
and you get the picture. Najee, Down to the Bone, Marcus Johnson,
Larry Carlton, Dave Koz, Michael McDonald, Brian Cuthbertson,
Norman Brown, Stanley Clarke, Chuch Loeb, to name but a few.
Two
stages, twenty four top class bands, along with a "Jazz Village",
market place, ample food outlets, and the choice of seated, or
picnic style lawn areas, make the attraction of the Capital Jazz
Fest pretty compulsive.
